Join us for the 2009 Softball Classic and FamTeam Retreat!

To our FamTeam friends:

You are warmly invited to attend the
2009 FamTeam Retreat and Softball Classic, both of which will be held during the Labor Day weekend (September 5,6, and 7). As has been the case in previous years, the 2009 Retreat/Classic weekend is designed to provide visitors with generous helpings of Christian inspiration and encouragement, along with abundant amounts of simple, old-fashioned fun.

The two events, though held in the same weekend, are scheduled in such a way as to not conflict with each other. The
FamTeam Retreat will begin on Saturday, September 5, at 4:00 PM, and conclude on Monday, September 7, at 3:00 PM. It will be held on the Arndt family homestead, located in southwestern Illinois, about 20 minutes away from downtown St. Louis, the Gateway Arch, and the Mississippi River. (Guests are invited to lodge at one of the dozens of motels, hotels, and camping areas that are located in the St. Louis/southern Illinois region. Those desiring specific recommendations regarding lodging prices, locations, etc. are invited to contact us at info@famteam.com.)

The
11th Annual Softball Classic will be held during the heart of the three-day weekend, beginning at 4:00 on Sunday, September 6, and concluding at 10:00 that evening. (As has been the case in each of the previous 10 years, the 2009 Classic will unfold on the grounds of Belleville's Laderman Park, and will include a triple-header featuring the Arndt family softball team and an array of food and game stands, all set against a backdrop of Christian music, prayer, and discussion. (At one point during the evening program, two or three of our out-of-town FamTeam visitors will be asked to step up to the microphone in order to exchange a few words with Dad or one of the older Arndt guys.)

Softball Classic, please click here.

Realizing that many families (and single folks) are operating on very tight budgets, and mindful of the fact that this is our 30th wedding anniversary year, Cathy and I have worked to come up with a "bare-bones" registration fee that we hope will allow the maximum number of visitors to be present for this year's special event.

Four meals will be served at this year's retreat (Saturday evening, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Monday morning). On Saturday, the day of the
Classic, visitors are invited to patronize the various food stands that will be available on the grounds of the park.

In celebration of our 30th anniversary, registration fees for this year's
FamTeam Retreat have been set at $30 per person for those 14 years of age or older. (Guests who are 13 and younger are invited to attend the retreat free of charge.)

There will be no admission cost for the
Softball Classic

We are living in historic times, an era in which many of those who love God and have a heart for His principles have a thirst for encouragement, support, love, and prayer. We trust that everyone who attends this year's
Retreat/Classic weekend will return to his or her home with a fresh anointing of love, power, and hope, and will go on to serve as flames for what we hope will be a prairie fire of grass-roots renewal and revival within this land!

We hope to see you in September!

FamTeam Retreat!

I wanted to take a moment to tell you how nice it was to meet you over the retreat weekend. The time we got to spend with you guys by the fire was definitely a highlight! We could have talked through the night and there's so much more that we'd like to pick your brains about.... maybe we'll get the chance to do just that some other retreat!
I could listen to Mr. and Mrs. Arndt talk forever!

My husband said that you guys are as close to what God designed the family to be. Again, I couldn't agree more! What we've taken from the retreat will be with us for the rest of our lives. We are eternally changed!

Dear Arndt family,

I really enjoyed the bunnies at your house. I also enjoyed the toys. The games at the Softball Classic were fun!

Your friend,
Benjamin, age 8

Thank you for inviting me to your house.
Laura, Age 6

I wanted to take a few moments to send you my sincerest gratitude for all the hard work your family put into the Retreat and Classic this year. Melanie and I, along with our young ones, had a memorable time. You're all such gracious hosts! You made every one of us feel comfortable and welcome in your home.

For the sake of brevity, I won't try to list the numerous ways in which your family blessed ours. I'll let it suffice to say that my heart was most encouraged by the many spontaneous conversations and warm fellowship that were kindled among all who attended. Furthermore, Melanie and I were particularly blessed to observe your sons and Mary-Elizabeth reaching out and welcoming our children with laughter and wholesome fun!

May God continue to bless and guide you as you're seeking His will; finding ways to let Him minister through your family. We'd very much like to return for another Retreat and/or Classic and, Lord willing, we will!

Very truly yours,
Scott. Melanie, and family

I really enjoyed the 2007 Family Retreat/Softball Classic. I was allowed to help out with preparing for the Classic. The Arndts were really nice. They welcomed me and my family and we all got along together. At the Classic they didn't treat me like a hindrance, they let me help set up games and help with activities. If you ask me it's a perfect family vacation.

There are many things I liked about the retreat, but I'll narrow it down to a few things. First of all I liked helping out with the Softball Classic, filling up water balloons and such things. I also liked playing dart guns in the basement. It was a fun weekend. Thanks!
